Green Computing Summit

Bringing Industry Expertise to Government Operations

Wednesday, December 5, 2007
The J.W. Marriott Hotel, Washington, DC

Getting green is emerging as the unified goal in the public and private sector, but only recently have initiatives surfaced encouraging agencies to think and act green. The private sector has taken great strides to move towards more energy-efficient operations and e-cycling programs. For them, getting green is good business. The federal government, as the largest purchaser of IT, also wants to demonstrate leadership in this initiative and invest in “greener” products and services.

What is the impact of going green on IT purchase decisions, acquisition policies, equipment disposal procedures, and energy management? How can energy be conserved and power consumption saved through cooling and other benefits of greener computing? When should the decision be made to upgrade or replace computers? How are policies established that encourage environmentally sound approaches?

The inaugural Green Computing Summit will address how public sector IT managers, procurement officials, and program managers public sector professionals can transform their IT and data center operations into more environmentally-conscious yet efficient solutions. The intensive one-day program will focus on the subject-matter experts from industry and government who will address the current and new policies, programs, enabling technologies, and essential issues driving the adoption of and investment in greener alternatives for current and future computing landscapes.

This conference will attract senior government IT professionals and their industry partners tasked with helping agencies become greener in the coming years. Attendees will represent:

  • Federal, state, and local governments
  • Public policy organizations
  • Suppliers to the government, including systems designers, integrators, equipment manufacturers, and service providers
